Contemporary Art Deco: geometry, black lacquer and brass

Art Deco is coming back through its geometry: arches, stepped forms, fan motifs. Revisited, it keeps the rigour and the brass, and gains bolder colours.

The Art Deco of the 1920s loved precious materials and constructed forms. Its contemporary version keeps both loyalties and lightens the rest: less ornament, more light, livelier colours.

It is a style of details: a brass handle, a stepped mirror, a fluted cabinet, a painted arch. Each one has to be right, and that is what manufacturing to your specifications makes possible.

The hallmarks of the style

  • Arches and stepped forms

Mirrors, niches, headboards and backrests pick up these shapes.

  • Black or deep lacquer

With a pale metal: brushed brass or chrome.

  • Fluting

On cabinet fronts, it adds relief without ornament.

  • Graphic floors

Checkerboards, herringbone patterns or geometric rugs.

  • Veined white marble

    To balance the dark lacquer.

Adapting it to your home

Every piece is drawn to your measurements, made directly by the workshop, then delivered: that is our Design & supply service. To prepare your measurements, follow our layout plan method.

In a bathroom

A fluted vanity unit, a stepped mirror and a brass wall light are enough to set the style, without redoing the room.

In a bedroom

An arched headboard, upholstered in velvet, does all the work.

With colour

Sky blue, sea green or powder pink gladly replace the black of the original Art Deco, provided you keep the metal.

Questions about this style

Is Art Deco compatible with a modern interior?

Yes, if you reduce it to its forms (arches, steps, flutes) and its materials (lacquer, brass, marble), without piling on the patterns.

Which metal should I choose?

Brushed brass for warmth, chrome for a more graphic version. One metal per room.
